Reichstag- Berlin, Germany

One building that really impressed me was the Reichstag in Germany. I went to Germany for a study abroad class. While we were there, we looked at all sorts of different architecture. The Reichstag really stuck out to me because of the older style of the front of the building which really hides how innovative it is. The front doors are ran by security and to keep down the cost to run it the open the outside doors first, close them behind you, then open the inside doors to keep hot and cold air from rushing in and out. The most impressive part of the Reichstag, however, is the dome on top. The dome has a center full of mirrors that shine the sun light down into the parliament meeting room to light it.

It also has a sun shade that moves with the sun all day to keep the right amount of sun entering the building. The technology and thought that went into designing this building to make it run efficiently made it really stand out to me.

I can see why you picked the the Reichstag, its really beautiful. I would have never guessed how innovative the interior dome was looking at it from the outside.
