Musikens hus (The house of music)- Henning Larsen

house of music

The Muskens Hus (AKA The House of Music) is a music concert hall located in Uppsala, Sweden. It was built by Henning Larsen in 2007 and serves as a “modern and futuristic” symbol for the local community. I find this building to be very cool. I love the modern design and how it incorporates large, irregular sheets of metal with glass. In the pictures below, you can see that the hall is filled with a lot of natural light. This, to me, makes the structure feel clean and contemporary.

  1. This design of this structure is strikingly different from most other designs and that’s what I really enjoy about it. I also like that you pointed out how the natural light enhances the experience of the building because I am also a big fan of natural lighting.

This building is absolutely breathtaking. I have never seen anything like it. I loved the oneness that the windows provide. As you mentioned even though it was built in 2007, it still seems futuristic and space aged even now in 2016. The only thing I wonder about is the cost of cooling the building down with all of the clear windows.
