Mies Van Der Rohe — SR Crown Hall

SR Crown Hall, conceptualized in 1956 and granted National Historic Landmark status in 2001, is among Mies’ best known work – Time Magazine once called the building “one of the world’s most influential, inspiring and astonishing structures.” This structure reiterates Mies motto that less is more, as he believed in clean and simple designs. The building is located 60 miles from Chicago in Plano, Illinois. It is a very long and beautiful structure. The house is comprised of long steel beams and floor-to-ceiling glass, making the entire building a kind of prism. I like that the building extends horizontally rather than vertically and that it has a rather basic design that makes it look wonderful. The windows are all transparent making you feel as if you are apart of the nature that is around you.
