Mies Van Der Rohe — H. Lange House
This is quite an amazing structure. Located in Krefeld, Germany and constructed in 1928, the H. Lange House has huge picture windows on the garden elevation that slide down at the press of a button powered by electrical motors. The roller-shutter blinds also operate this way. There are silk curtains and beautiful wood floors. The house is covered in red bricks as well as red steps that lead to a garden. The building now houses a gallery partially because Hermann Lange (who the building was named after) was a collector himself and stored his paintings in the basement. I am very impressed with this house and the features that Mies implemented in such an early time period in regards to technology.
