Michael Reynolds- Passive Solar
Michael Reynold’s also helped with the making of the passive solar, earth sheltered house. He calls it Phase I. Features an integral greenhouse on the south side. Contains communal living area, kitchen, and bathroom, plus three tire-encircled bedrooms. The greenhouse is lined with planting beds in which the tenants can grow their own vegetables and flowers, and make use of a wall of water tanks for the thermal mass. Then, the innovative dwelling is finished with a curving of the tin roof. It’s 2,500 square foot Phase I house and provides a lower cost of rental space for few of the workers and company’s office. The house costs around $50,000 to build.
