Louis Kahn- Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban
This is one of the more unique buildings of his (or anyone) that I’ve come across and it’s called Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban, and it serves as National Parliament House of Bangladesh. The geometric shapes found on the different faces of the façade add a dramatic impact to the overall makeup of the building. The geometric shapes are not only a focal point both the exterior and interior, they serve as light wells and a natural environmental control system for the interior too. For Kahn, light was an important aspect in the design of a building. According to Robert McCarter, author of Louis I. Kahn, it “is one of the twentieth century’s greatest architectural monuments, and is without question Kahn’s magnum opus.”
