Giuseppe Terragni- Novocomum, Como

This apartment complex was designed by Terragni who was a member of the fascist movement in early 20th century. When commissioned by the government to design an apartment complex he submitted a traditional roman design that got approved, however, he never gave that drawing to the contractors. The true design for this apartment complex was only exposed when the scaffolding was removed, and it angered the government to the point where it was going to be demolished. It never did, partly due to his brother’s position in the fascist movement, and it ended up opening a gateway to rationalist architecture which was more suited with the political posture at the time.
I don’t quite like the building, because it violently asserts itself amidst a different style of architecture.
