Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art
This is one of the first buildings I ever went to at OU. I went back when I was in middle school while visiting a friend of one of my family members in Norman. I enjoyed my experience at the museum so it left a positive effect from then on when I considered anything OU related. I found it to be an enriching experience that foreshadowed how my time at the university would go. The museum along with many other campus centers have provided me with opportunities to learn about diverse topics.
The building is fairly unique compared to other buildings on campus. That combined with its corner location of the premises of campus make it always stand out in my mind. The museum was not always located there as this building is fairly new. It was built in 2005 due to the need for a larger space because the museum was growing. It was designed by Hugh Jacobson and features 55a hut-like structure. The shape and style of the building gives off an artistic feel for me.
