Blog #5 – One World Trade Center
One World Trade Center
The One World Trade Center is currently the tallest building in the western hemisphere and the fourth tallest skyscraper in the world standing at an outstanding height of 1,776 feet tall which is symbolic because it represents the year that the United States Declaration of Independence was signed to break away from the British. Construction on the center began in April of 2006 and was finally completed in 2013. This building was designed by David Childs of Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill. The 104 story glass skyscraper transforms from a cube base into 8 isoceles triangles giving the building its unique look from a distance looking at the New York Skyline. The One World Trade Center stands next to the 9/11 memorial to always remember the victims of 9/11.
