Paul Andreu and Terminal 2E at Charles de Gaulle Airport

Terminal 2E at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, France

This is what terminal 2E, one of Andreu’s boldest designs, looked like before collapsing on May 23, 2004. It was reported that the falling debris killed five people. Even though there was an obvious flaw during construction, the tunnel itself looks beautiful. This doesn’t seem like what most airport terminals look like today. I feel like the ceiling design and the way they designed the floor was and still is advanced for its time.
