The Glass House, designed by Tadao Ando, does not stray too far from his most favorite material: concrete. This building also incorporates sleek glass and steel. It is built on a resort island, Phoenix Island, in South Korea and serves as a gallery and restaurant. One of the most important aspects of this development was its focus on sustainability. Local materials were used and many buildings have “green roofs.” In addition to being good for the earth, this keeps the focus on the natural environment. The minimalistic design of the Glass house promotes this with its abundance of windows and unobstructed views.
