The Finlandia Hall is located in the center of Helsinki, Finland. The water shown is the Töölönlahti bay. The Finlandia Hall is a concert hall and event center that was designed by Alvar Aalto and was built in 1971. It is interesting to note that Alvar Aalto not only designed the building, but he designed every detail on the inside as well. This includes furniture, door handles, lighting, and everything else that can be considered decorative. The tall portion of the building is the auditorium and it utilizes a hollowed out section at the top. This was done by Aalto in order to achieve similar deep post-echo sound that is found in church bell towers.
