The Des Moines Art Center is just another one of the many structures designed by Eero Saarinen. This building opened in 1948 and is an art museum with housing many paintings, sculptures, and other forms of artistic media. On the outside the structure looks like something out of a futuristic dystopian civilization. It seems to be three or four stories tall, and white tiles make up the outside of the building. As you can see from the picture above, the outside design is not traditional. The white walls curve and bend with a variety of unique windows. On the inside, different art exhibitions rotate in order to keep things fresh. Some artist’s content you can find at the Des Moines Art Center include Edward Hopper, Andy Warhol, and Georgia O’Keeffe. Inside you can also find a library, restaurant, and gift shop.
