One of the most recognizable towers in the Hong Kong skyline the Bank of China Tower was great international accomplishment for I.M. Pei. He himself is a Chinese american so being able to make one of China’s landmarks was a great honer for him. He wanted to make it tall and grand. And it was the tallest from 1989 to 1992 standing as high as 1,205 ft, making it the first building to be taller than 1,000 ft outside of the United States. The building itself is very famous coming on movies like Battleship, StarTrek Voyager, and Transformers age of extinction. Pei wanted the building to resemble growing bamboo, symbolizing growth and prosperity. It is made of multiple triangular structures that transfer load to 5 main steel columns.
