3. Allen Fieldhouse located in Lawrence, Ks is another place that had a large impact on my life. With my dad’s connections as a college recruiter to the basketball program at KU, I was always with him in attendance of almost every home basketball game, both men’s and women’s, red and blue scrimmages, and even a few practices. It was hilarious how surprised my dad was that I did not want to attend KU. Still to this day I am able to recite the KU fight song, alma mater, and all of their crazy chants, whereas it took until my Junior year at OU to learn the Oklahoma state song and alma mater. Even if you are not a KU fan, Allen Fieldhouse is one place you have to experience college basketball at least one time in your life. I watched many of the greatest players play in that gym and celebrated every championship. Not many home courts are comparable to the level of energy that fills the place. I think the capacity is over 16,000. With basketball being the main attraction for the University of Kansas, they are constantly making renovations to update Allen Fieldhouse. Since I was little, they have added on to the Hall of Fame in the building, seating arrangements, etc. OU is obviously the school I chose and I have loved being in Norman, but Allen Fieldhouse will always hold a high standard in my heart and is always enjoyable to visit.
